After School Programs

Wow the second session of STARS will begin on Monday November 6th.

 We have quite a lineup of activities! 

On Monday we will have Builders Club, (5-8), is the largest service organization for middle school and high school students with more than 45,000 members worldwide. Members learn to work together and develop servant leader skills as they serve their school and community. In partnership with UNICEF and March of Dimes, the clubs are able to expand their outreach to babies and children of the world. Crazy 8's Math (K-4), students is a fun recreational after school math club that helps kids enjoy the math behind their favorite activities. Creative Writing (3-8) Do you like writing your own songs? playing word games? or even writing scary stories? Then you will love creative writing club! The ideas are endless with your host Mr. Frank Sawicki.

On Tuesday In Computers (2-6), students will have use of the computers for different activities. Yearbook this year will be a full-year commitment to help create the SCS Yearbook. Big / Little Buddy Program (K-8) This program will consist of older students (5-8) mentoring younger students (K-4). Any older student may sign up to be a big buddy. Any younger student may sign up to be paired with a Big Buddy to work on homework, educational games/projects and or enriching activities. In STEM ~ Science Technology Engerineering Mathematics (4-8) Stem clubs are a powerful and highly enjoyable way to engage students with "STEM" projects. They can be fun   and fulfilling for students not to mention have a positive impact. Students will work building projects and be involved in activities in Science Technology Engineering Mathematics.

On Wednesday we are providing STEM  for our younger students. This fun action packed program will also build great projects while exploring the fundamentals of  Science Technology Engineering Mathematics. Holiday Cooking Students will be preparing for the holiday in a fun and exciting way with holiday baking. This is set to include making Gingerbread house building fun for all ages!


This session will end on December 23th.  

**** Change****

We need to reschedule Yearbook, Computer, Ms. Saari's Stem group as well as Big Buddy Little Buddy from Tuesday 12/12/17 to

Thursday 12/14/17 for this one week only due to our Christmas Concert being on Tuesday. 


There will be two days that will require make up sessions. November 22 (the day before Thanksgiving Vacation) and the Early Release day December 6th.  

We will let you know about make up days. 

Please provide any feedback you might have that will help to make the year even better.

Calling all movie Directors….The Afterschool club is looking for students to create as well as edit movies and short films.  You can explore your creative side in this club! The ideas are endless with your host Mr. Frank Sawicki

___Yearbook

Students will help to build the Stewartstown Community School Yearbook by taking photographs and creating pages.

 

__Computers

Computer club offers enriching computer games/activities for students who are interested in computers

 

____Physical Activities

Ms. Saari (Gr. K-8)

(limited to 12 students)

Physical Activities Club will get the students up and moving inside as well as outside. Activities will include Dirty Back Yard Game, Amba Relay Race, suitcase relay, Spin it, Toilet Paper Wrap Up, Hula Hoop Pass, Yoga and Snowshoeing

___Robotics

Mr. Patterson (Gr. 6-8)

 Calling all creative thinkers, engineers, programmers, builders, and tinkerers.

For years robots have fascinated us.  They are all around us making our lives easier, but how many of us truly understand how they work?  If you have ever wondered what makes a robot go we now have an opportunity for you.  Robotics are coming to SCS after school program.  

 

In this program you will get the opportunity to work with lego mindstorm robots.  Working in small groups you will design and build your own robot.  Then you will program it to complete various useful tasks.   A willingness to work in a team and a positive attitude are all you need to have to participate in this great opportunity.

As always Mrs. Hemon has some creative projects up her sleeve! Come explore your creative side and create some neat fall and holiday projects!

 

____Science Technology Engineering Mathematics

Mrs. Ricker (Gr. 2-4)

(limited to 12 students)

STEM for younger students~ (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) Stem clubs are a powerful and highly enjoyable way to engage students with "STEM" projects. They can be fun and fulfilling for students not to mention have a positive impact. This fun action packed program will also build great projects while exploring the fundamentals of Science Technology Engineering Mathematics. Some activities included are making slime, index card chains, and a paper plate pinball challenge.
